BEES Activities

Our activities give students an opportunity to "try-out" some of the concepts that they've learned. There are career planning, solid waste, and water activities. In these activities you are guided through a series of steps to encourage you to challenge how things have always been done, examine your role as decision maker and planner, and become a teacher to others - either at school or home.To start, you may wish to try " Are there any hazardous materials in my home?" (found under solid waste) or " What type of job is for me?" (found under career planning).

Bees must collect nectar from over a million flowers to make one pound of honey. Some colonies can produce 500 pounds of honey in a year. Talking about activities, they certainly must be "busy bees" to visit so many flowers.
BEES programs are multidisciplinary. Here's a math problem for you.
Use the bees fact above to calculate approximately how many flowers were visited in a period of five months, by a colony of bees that produced 387 pounds of honey in a year.
