Online colleges and universities afford students the opportunity to go to school while working and maintaining a household. Distance learning opened the door to flexibility and convenience, making it possible for students to attend lectures, complete assignments, and engage in discussions all online from the comfort of their own home.

Traditionally, online schools only offered programs in business, computer science, and information technology. Advancements in the way online courses are taught, including classroom simulations and virtual environments, have made room for less traditional educational programs to be turned into online offerings.

What degrees are being offered or developed for the online educational community?
• Education
Students can obtain an associate, bachelor, or master degree in education with a combination of online classroom study and student teaching hours earned through local elementary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions. These programs integrate applied sciences, general education, virtual simulations, and clinical skills required for the health-care related settings and award associate, bachelor, or master level degrees. Graduating students can enjoy careers in nutrition, nursing, medical administration, health services, and as medical technicians.
